swixx – A Programme by the Arts Council of Switzerland Pro Helvetia A substantial proportion of the artists working in Switzerland have foreign roots. In interaction and exchange with Swiss artists and cultural practitioners, they help shape the country’s cultural landscape, be it in music, the visual arts, literature, theatre, dance or popular culture. Pro Helvetia’s swixx programme extends an invitation to discover the interplay of a wide variety of cultures in the context of contemporary art and culture in Switzerland. The two-year swixx programme, which extends into the year 2006, is produced in close cooperation with partners. swixx will also be initiating its own windows to existing cultural events in a wide range of fields. The commissions awarded by Pro Helvetia during 2005 will likewise be motivated by the idea of multiculturalism. |
