In 1997, when everybody discussed the emerging concept of "digitalised world”, Pro Helvetia made a feasability test - together with the Swiss Department For Foreign Affairs. The aim of this test was to find out wether "traditional” pannel based exhibitions could be generated worldwide from a CD-ROM-source or not. Countries spread over the five continents were contacted. The result of the test was positive.
On this basis, Pro Helvetia decided to create a series of digitalised exhibitions on major topics of Swiss culture life. From the very beginning, it was part of the concept that exhibition related documentation should be accessed online. Do not hestitate do make further suggestions.
The online-documentations are designed to highlight all questions curators and other interested persons would like to have answered when getting in touch with the exhibitions.
For easy handling, all online-documentations offer the same structural grid. Four chapters can be consulted:
The CD-ROM-exhibitions and the related online documentation were made by Swiss curators, on demand of Pro Helvetia and in collaboration with the Arts Council.
The online-documentations can be printed chapter by chapter from screen or by PDF, as one single document.
