Subdivision of the panels

The exhibition comprises 49 panels, subdivided into introduction, milestones and protagonists.
There are also two panels with a different format: the geographical panel and the timeline.

Structure of the panels

Introductory panel
In the introductory panel, the first of the series, the historical context of the exhibition is explained. An outline is provided of the show’s structure, divided into milestones and protagonists.

This panel mentions all the persons who have collaborated on the creation and realization of the exhibition, the architecture studios and institutions that have kindly provided materials (texts, drawings, images), and all those who have made the project possible with their support.
In-depth explanatory texts are made available on standard A4 paper.

Milestones
The "project-building" panels illustrating the milestone works are divided in two zones: a colored zone for the texts, a white zone for the photographs and drawings.
The texts in the colored zone contain essential information: the name of the architect, collaborators, date and place of construction, an explanation of the project. Images of the interiors and details of the building are positioned beside the text.
In the white zone, photographs of the buildings and drawings of plans and sections required for comprehension of the project are provided. In some cases sketches are reproduced to illustrate the creative phase of the project. The images have captions.

Protagonists
The seven protagonists are shown in a series of panels of three different types.
The "architect" panel is composed of a photo portrait of the architect, a series of quotations from the interview contained on the interactive CD-ROM "Architecture in the territory”, biographical notes and a series of 10 images with captions, illustrating a selection of the works that best sum up the architect’s research.
The "esprit" panel, where each architect has summed up, with images or writings, his own thought, his way of operating and approaching architectural design. The architects have been left complete freedom to select the content of these panels.
The panels with projects built in Switzerland and abroad are structured in the same way as the "project-building" panels of the milestones section.

Geographical panel
Canton Ticino is seen in the map of Switzerland, and Switzerland is highlighted on the map of the world.

Timeline panel
The timeline panel shows the works of the protagonists in the period 1970-2003: projects, competitions, educational activities, exhibitions and awards, in Switzerland and abroad.
